| What's up guys, a guy on a local Cincy forum directed me to this site. I picked up my first Z this past friday. It's a 1990 300zx NA, 5 speed, 2+0 with 152k miles. It's a T Top car and is Super white with a good awful red interior. I got the car cheap and there are multiple reasons for that. First, the clutch pedal was stuck to the floor. The guy didn't seem too mechanical and was tired of messing with the car. I limped it home shifting without a clutch and got the car to a good friend of mine where we found that the slave was completely shot. When you squeezed the outer boot on the slave, fluid came pouring out. $16, 2 bolts and 20 mins later, the car was shifting great. Both holes in the trans were stripped out so I found 2 longer bolts to use. The second major problem is that the engine is running on 5 cylinders. I think I've got it narrowed down to the number 5 injector. I began by removing the injector plugs and found that when I removed the number 5 plug, I didn't get any different idle. I swapped coil packs between 4 and 5 and no change. I did a compression test on 5 (250psi, hot engine though). I used a test light on the injector plug itself and did get a pulsing light. Now I just need to find an injector and get it swapped out. The power steering doesn't work. I haven't got a chance to diagnose this yet. I do know that the cap will not tighten down on the reservoir. I'll have to look more into this. The belt is there, I do know that much. The steering wheel is WAY off. I guess the car had a riceboy wheel on it at one point so with the car going straight, the steering wheel is aimed almost 90 degrees to the right. I believe the passenger side wheel bearing is bad. The car is whining really really bad at highway speeds and vibrating badly. When I turn the wheel left it temporarily goes away. When I turn it right, it gets worse. The previous owner said that the left front was recently replaced and did give me a receipt. The T tops won't come out. The passenger side won't unlock at all and the driver side lock turns, but the handle is broken off and I can't figure out how to unlatch it. There are a few other problems but so far so good. The car is a blast to drive and I can't wait to get it running good again! I look forward to being a member on the forum and doing some research! I've always wanted one of these cars.
